Everything begins with looking. I am drawn to the visual structures that surround us: patterns, rhythms, contrasts, colours, textures and organic forms. I often find inspiration in things that are easily overlooked.

I have always been a collector. Stones, shells, plants, books, objects, images, colours and fragments of everyday life. Today, I also collect moments of seeing. These observations become the raw material for my practice.

I take things apart. A form can be reduced to lines. A landscape to colour. A building to rhythm. An object to structure. By breaking down what I observe, I can understand it differently.

I then bring fragments together in a new way. Sometimes through paint. Sometimes through clay. Sometimes through sculpture, found materials or processes I have never used before. The material is part of the investigation. I don't want to know exactly what will happen. I want to discover what happens.

For me, the process is not simply a route towards a finished artwork. It is the artwork's history. Every decision, accident, reaction and transformation becomes part of the work.
